Give Kids Some Painting Fun
Offer the paints and canvas for kids to use for painting, only they can throw the paint, use their fingers, and even roll around in the paint, to paint with their bodies. Find the most inexpensive paints you can (since kids tend to use a lot of it). You can offer this painting fun at fairs, flea markets, and any type of kids' show or event. You will need to figure out how much your costs are and figure out the best fee for each child. You could probably charge about $50 per child. Kids just love being able to paint things, so be brave and open a booth or business that offers this to children of all ages. These types of booths catering to young ones always seem to be the most popular, even the services where adults paint tattoo-like pictures on kids' faces and other exposed body parts. There are always long waiting lines for these types of offers. Make an even better offer by providing the paints and canvas for kids to use in creating their own masterpieces to keep. Show them how they can choose to use a few different sizes of paintbrushes, or throw the paint on the canvas, or use their fingers, or even (if their parents give permission) to roll around the paint on the canvas with their own bodies. Since kids tend to use a lot of paint when painting, find the most inexpensive paints you can. Be sure also, that the paint is washable and a non-toxic type. Buying these paints in bulk would be your best bet; this would assure a good price for you and help you to be sure that you have enough paint on hand. It would probably be a good idea to allow each child a pre-measured amount of each color to use. Your basics; red, blue, yellow, black and white are probably all that you will need. You could also make a little extra money by offering added little packets of items like; glitter, buttons, beads, and such, in small-presorted containers, if the parents want to spend a little more. You can offer this painting fun at fairs, flea markets, and any type of kids' show or event. Just keep an eye on what is happening in your local region and find out how you could open your own booth at these upcoming events. It may require a small fee, but you will be sure to make good money in return. You will need to figure out how much your costs are to put this together and figure out the best fee to charge for each child. Remember, the lower the fee you are able to charge the better. You could even offer a sliding scale, charge according to how large the canvas is that the child chooses. On the other hand, you might charge according to their ages (maybe $5 per year), or whatever works best for you. Just make sure that you will be able to make a sizeable profit. You could probably charge about $50 per child; see what parents are willing to pay. Remember that advertising will always be worth your investment; try to put up flyers wherever you think children and their parents will see them. Place advertisements in your local area newspapers. If you decide to attend these events regularly try to get customer addresses and send them advertisements whenever you are in their areas. A good way to do this is by offering a prize, or a raffle, to everyone that fills out a ticket stub with their information included. Compile these addresses in a database and send out post cards whenever you are in their area, with all of the information of the event coming up and letting them know that you will be there. You may even include a coupon on the post card to see what kind of response you get from your mailings, encouraging parents to bring the post card in for a discount, an extra free color of paint, a container of glitter, or something special that doesn’t cost you much of an investment. |
